✈️ I was hired by Southwest Airlines♥️in April of 1987. At that time, I was only 19 years old!🤭 I both received and submitted my application in terminal 1, at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, from my now husband of 29 years.🥰 At that time, Michael, was working in the ground operations department for Southwest Airlines. Michael and I dated for nearly 5 years before marrying in September of 1991. Since that time, we have raised two beautiful daughters. Michael retired from Southwest in 2005 to pursue a full-time career in real estate. Since then, he has successfully served both buyers and sellers in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Meanwhile, throughout this time, I had remained at the Phoenix call center, as a customer representative.
Yes, my entire 33 years with Southwest Airlines was spent at the Phoenix Call Center.🤭
Throughout my tenure at Southwest I wore many hats. In addition to booking and managing reservations, I worked on various other computer applications including the Rapid Rewards system (Tracking Loyal Customers-TLC), the Funds Management system (Cirrus), and also Southwest's Reaccomodation Desk. In fact, in 2019 and with the grounding of the 737 Max, it was the Reaccomodation Desk that became an integral part of my job duties.
I realize that to many people, working in a call center for over 33 years, seems unimaginable, but I had found that as time progressed, my call center position allowed for me to have a tremendous amount of flexibility.
In my early years at Southwest, I was able to work part-time hours and keep full-time benefits, and my, what a blessing that was! When my girls were little, I was able to adjust my shifts accordingly, allowing me for more time at home with them. And when the time came that they started school, so did I! As my call-center position also allowed me the flexibility to pursue my dream of returning back school to pursue a higher education.📚
And so, in the end, my call center job allowed me the flexibility to raise a family, and in addition, both pursue and achieve a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with an Early Child Hood Endorsement! 👩🏼🎓
And all while serving the best airline♥️and flying public✈️--in the world!🌎 Imagine that!😁
So, you see Southwest Airlines truly has been the Luv Airlines both in my life and in my family’s life!♥️
On side note...
I will be forever grateful for the time and memories shared with Southwest Airlines, and I will ALWAYS be one of Southwest Airlines’ Biggest Fans!♥️
